So What Do I Look Like 5+ yrs. Out?

I shoulda put an "AFTER" photo up with the "BEFORE" photo (previous blog entry). This was taken of me last weekend at Pat O'Bryan's "Unseminar Elite 2."
I'm the one sandwiched between "The Portable Empire"'s PAT O'BRYAN and
"The Secret," "The Attractor Factor" and "Zero Limits" author JOE VITALE.
They first mentored me at "Unseminar 3" in Feb. 07 and it was great to be reunited.

To be continued...

BELLY FAT & BRAIN SHRIVELLED!

I don't know about you, but when I've gone off my diet and gained back all that I'd lost - and then some! there comes a moment when I'm confronted with a sight, a comment, or a news item that is so alarming that it triggers my desperation to get back into the game and DIET AGAIN!!! Yesterday, most news outlets carried a story about BELLY FAT that will serve to illustrate. The report: Health Insurer KAISER PERMANENTE's Research division published a study in the journal, "Neurology," (March 25th) based on the study of 6,583 people in their 40's. Phase 1 was conducted between 1964-1973; and followed up an average of 36 years later to tabulate the number of dementia diagnoses. Sidebar: In the past, some of you may have used the newly discovered links between belly fat and heart disease, belly fat and cancer, and belly fat and diabetes to kick-start new diets. So you can rest assured this new piece of medical evidence should work equally well to get you back out there dieting! The findings: high levels of belly fat in one's 40's increases an obese person's chances of contracting senility or dementia in their 70's over a normal-weight person with low belly fat 3.6 times!!! To put that in context, those who are obese in a pattern that is more pear-shaped are still 2.0 times as likely as a normal-weight person to become senile or demented. It gets worse [or better, depending on your point of view]: You can enroll new recruits to yo-yo dieting with this additional piece of information:
Even if you're a normal-weight 40-something, if you have "a sizable stomach" you, too,
have a higher risk of senility
30 years later!

We have Rachel Whitmer, Kaiser scientist and the lead study author, to thank for offering us the words that will be our rallying cry (see the BELLY FAT collection of stuff on our store this weekend!):

""This is not a stubborn fat;
it is a toxic fat!"

A word of encouragement from Dr. Whitmer, herself, as you prepare to mount your newest, most rigorous diet: abdominal fat is easier to lose than fat stored elsewhere!

So haul out those food scales, the booklets that count calories, carbs, fats, protein, food diaries, tape measure and bathroom scale and begin the work of mental preparation for dieting.

I'll check in with you later to see how you're doing.
